The V-cone flow meter operates on the principle that when a pipe is fully filled with fluid flowing through a restriction (the V-cone), the flow velocity increases and static pressure decreases at the constriction, creating a differential pressure (ΔP) between upstream and downstream sides. The greater the flow rate, the larger the ΔP; thus, flow can be determined by measuring this pressure difference. This method is fundamentally based on the continuity equation (mass conservation) and Bernoulli’s equation (energy conservation).
