Product Principle

The electrical component used by a pressure transmitter to sense pressure is typically a resistance strain gauge. A resistance strain gauge is a sensitive device that converts the pressure applied to a measured object into an electrical signal. The most commonly used types of resistance strain gauges are the metal resistance strain gauge and the semiconductor strain gauge. Metal resistance strain gauges are further divided into wire-wound strain gauges and metal foil strain gauges. Usually, the strain gauge is tightly bonded to the substrate that produces mechanical strain using a special adhesive. When the substrate undergoes stress changes due to applied force, the strain gauge deforms along with it, causing a change in its resistance value, which in turn results in a variation in the voltage applied across the resistor.
