Product Principle
A piezoelectric crystal at the base drives the fork tines, while another piezoelectric crystal senses the vibration signal, forming a feedback loop that keeps the fork in resonance. When material comes into contact with the fork, the vibration amplitude gradually decreases until resonance stops, at which point the control circuit outputs a switching signal. Due to the natural attenuation of sensitivity from the fork tip toward the base, material buildup or discharge around the vessel does not cause false signals.
In simple terms, the tuning fork is excited by a piezoelectric crystal to produce mechanical vibration at a specific frequency and amplitude. When immersed in liquid or solid material, the vibration characteristics change. This frequency shift is detected by the electronic circuit and converted into a switching output.
